About
Universe:
OK first things first, Broken’s universe has no founding in the HALO universe. As such the UNSC, SPARTANS, Elites etc. do not exist and will not have any appearances in my story.
Locale:
The story takes place in a medium sized country with a coast to the East and abandoned deserts running down the center, splitting the country into two separately functional entities. Most of the story takes place in the East with some scenes in the Central Deserts.
Plot:
The plot centers on the government’s choice to institute Privatized Military Corporations as the primary peacekeeping force and the consequences of this decision. Mainly this involves the government’s attempt to remove the PMC’s power and authority. Why PMC’s were given this power and what they did with it will be revealed through the story.
Characters:
Major/Colonel James Leftson: GOV: A mid ranking military officer sent to re-establish contact with the PMC’s which have recently been unresponsive to the capitol. A great shot and excellent strategist make him look good on paper but he has a value for life rarely seen in this day and age. This sometime makes him hesitant to open fire first.
Sergeant Remy Charon: GOV: A low ranking military soldier serving under Leftson. He is certified to operate all of the gov’s machinery and vehicles.
Private Harris: GOV: A low ranking military mechanic. Long winded and quick to complain, but always working.
Colonel/High Commander Bumin: PMC: A PMC colonel famous from his methods during the years of internal terrorism. He usually commands from the front lines and leads his men into battle although recently, he has fallen into medical difficulties. He is a charismatic orator and master of morale.
Alliya Bumin: PMC: The colonel’s daughter. She serves as a medic within the PMC base her father leads. She has never undergone any military training or served in the field. Her protective father has ensured that she has lived a sheltered, safe life thus far.
Lieutenant Jeremiah Blue: PMC: An excellent PMC sniper who is also very close to Alliya who refers to him as “Bluejay” because of his name.
Brigadier Vantile: PMC: Colonel Bumin’s second in command. Despite his position, he still conducts fieldwork due to the relatively low number of PMC soldiers per base. He is the only one Colonel Bumin is able to talk to without reservation. Dependable in every situation, he has established a reputation of always being able to return alive despite the odds.
Factions:
The military is now commonly known as the GOVs because of their close association with the remnants of the national government. The majority of their forces had parents or other relatives serve before them. This makes it seem like they require such actions but in reality this is not the case. GOV forces are denoted by their green armor with tan accents. They wear standard MK VI body shoulders and helmets.
The PMC’s are not an actual united force but operate more as multiple separate forces that share a common goal. Each specific PMC base can vary from a couple hundred soldiers to several thousand. The territory they control also varies accordingly. In a way their structure of territory control is similar to the Italian Cosa Nostra, or Mafia. Their armor is all blue. Their helmets and body are MKVI but their shoulders are CQB.
The rebels or resistance, depending on who is referring to them, are GOV supporters who refused to evacuate with the GOV forces and the government. Instead, they stayed behind to interfere with PMC objectives in a covert manner. Their bases are generally hidden or can pass off as normal facilities. As such each group is generally under 500 soldiers with the majority having only about 100. Their armor is green with tan accents, the same as the GOV forces. Their body and shoulders are MKVI while their helmets are CQB.
Notes: I don’t enjoy pre-reading too much and most of what is written above can be figured out from the story. Only three characters in the first chapter? Don’t worry, the cast will grow soon. However, I do try to keep things simple and the entire cast of unique, named characters will never top ten. I will also have no distinct main character. Instead, I will simply follow a chain of events unfolding in an important point in the life of a nation. This entire series actually started from a short paper I did for my English class. It was a monologue that is (mostly) delivered by Leftson in the second chapter but some parts had to be judiciously removed as they contained too much information. I am personally responsible for all aspects of the plot writing, character design, page setup, screenshots, photoshopping, forged sets, and acting (with minimal begrudging help from my brother for complex shots). I like to keep it simple.
My first post should be up soon !
